Verve #ad - In 1964, the national film board of canada asked john Coltrane to record the soundtrack for a French-language film titled 'Le chat dans le sac" "The Cat in the Bag". Amazingly, no announcement was made that the iconic Coltrane was adding new performances to this film. Now, with the release of blue World, we can hear these newly-discovered recordings for the first time Shrink-wrapped.

In june of that year, coltrane's Classic Quartet entered Rudy Van Gelder's studio and recorded five previously-recorded Coltrane originals. Shrink-wrapped. For many years, viewers of the film who recognized the music thought that they were listening to the original recordings, though in fact they were new and had never been heard.

Fittingly, backed again by tyner, coltrane concluded this era with: 1963's impulse! release, jones, John Coltrane And Johnny Hartman - supported by Coltrane's regular group of pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Jimmy Garrison and drummer Elvin Jones - and Duke Ellington And John Coltrane Impulse!, bassist Aaron Bell and drummer Sam Woodyard.

The record also featured art blakey, coleman hawkins, Gigi Gryce and Wilbur Ware in a meeting of such prestige that the album would be inducted into the Grammy Award Hall Of Fame in 2007. In 1962 trane moved away a move away from his more traditional line ups for, Kenny Burrell And John Coltrane New Jazz a record which blended his saxophone with Burrell's guitar, alongside Paul Chambers' double bass, Tommy Flanagan's piano and Jimmy Cobb's drums.

This collection, spanning almost five hours of music across four discs, including eight complete, original records, brings together the very finest albums John Coltrane recorded in collaboration with other jazz greats, remastered to this highest possible standard.1961 also saw the release of Thelonious Monk And John Coltrane Jazzland.

Classic Collaborations 1957-1963 #ad - In addition, 1959 - which included appearances from paul chambers and drummer art taylor - while the same year saw the release of his only pairing with fellow saxophonist Paul Quinichette on Cattin' With Coltrane And Quinichette Prestige in a group that showcased too the talents of Julian Euell on bass, he would join forces with other Miles Davis alumni on John Coltrane With The Red Garland Trio Prestige, Ed Thigpen on drums and Mal Waldron on piano.

Also included as part of this collection, is a rare, previously unreleased recording of a jam session undertaken by members of John Coltrane's group in Munich in 1961, led by Eric Dolphy on bass clarinet and McCoy Tyner on piano.

This complete 4 cd collection, during a period that the great man went from being a breakaway from John Coltrane's group, bringing together as it does McCoy Tyner's finest early releases, containing almost five hours of music, showcases all of Tyner's work with Impulse! as a bandleader, to a fully-fledged international and wildly respected jazz band-leader in his own right.

Within two years music had become the focal point in his life and Tyner was playing on his neighbour's instrument, but his family soon invested in one of his own for the budding musician, following which he began hosting jam sessions at home. Bud was a major influence on me during my early teens. Shrink-wrapped.

Eight Classic Albums #ad - After being forced out of the messengers in 1961 following serious drug problems, where he continued to make albums, he returned to Philadelphia, but he moved back to New York in '63. His main early influence was fellow trumpeter Clifford Brown, from whom he took a few lessons as a teenager. Born in philadelphia on 10th july 1938, his sister gifted him his first trumpet on his 13th birthday, having previously been interested in the vibraphone and then the alto sax.

Morgan achieved early prominence after playing on john coltrane's esteemed Blue Train at age 17, and joining Dizzy Gillespie's big band a year later, a group with whom he performed and recorded for 18 months, until Gillespie disbanded his group in 1958. Following the demise of gillespie's outfit, Lee joined Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in late 1958, and while it further developed his talent as a soloist and composer.
